Unlocking Potential

Coaching is a collaborative process that is goal oriented and involves action and doing things differently. The coach supports the learning and growth of individuals and teams and facilitates improvements in performance.

It builds capacity for; leadership, by helping leaders to identify and change the critical few behaviours that stand between them and exceptional performance; development ,by working with individuals to meet the challenge of new projects and ‘impossible’ deadlines and develop their capability and careers; change, by supporting leaders to find new thinking and approaches and steer the organisation through unchartered waters as well as enabling individuals and teams to cope with and prosper in uncertain times and; cost effective solutions, by helping people to work smarter and do more with less.

Our team

Our team

Our business coaches offer wide-ranging experience and expertise, with many possessing hands-on experience as senior managers and executives in a variety of organisations across private, public and voluntary sectors. All are accredited individually and supported to maintain the professional development. Given the increasing complexity and challenging nature of many of today’s coaching issues it is important for coaches to be able to reflect and we provide a forum for discussion within the coaching team and supervision.

We work in partnership with our clients

We work in partnership with our clients to set expectations including;

  • Agreeing specific and measurable outcomes and develop a bespoke approach.
  • Using a range of tools including 360 degree feedback, as appropriate, to provide a strong evidence base, often balancing this with intuition to enable insight.
  • Creating opportunities to have conversations of rare frankness which contain high support and high challenge that move individuals to greater effectiveness.
  • Working with clients so that they can answer their own questions. We ask searching questions, rather than offer advice or solutions
  • Unlocking the potential within every person and close the gap between talent and performance, individually and organisationally
  • Changing behaviour and action. ‘Habits are first cobwebs, then cables’ – Old Spanish proverb. Changing behaviour is neither quick nor easy and the evidence is overwhelming, only 4% of traditional training interventions bring about permanent change.
  • Encouraging the small changes that sometimes have large effects.
  • Reviewing and evaluate the impact and measure against outcomes and specific measures.

Here are two examples of recent assignments:

Supporting the top team through organisational change

The current economic and business climate is shaping the way people work together; it’s affecting the issues people chose to bring to coaching and bringing new dynamics to the way teams work to resolve business challenges. New thinking requires a different approach.

We were asked to provide coaching support to the ‘top’ team in a public sector organisation faced with unprecedented change and the need to develop the culture and ways of working. A careful matching of client and coach helped to develop a high degree of openness and over a 9 month period key behaviours were changed and developed with positive and measurable impact.

After a formal evaluation, the coaching relationships were extended to complete the transition and support the organisation’s extended remit.

Building relationships

Highly talented people are often challenging and demanding to manage; sometimes, with negative impact on relationships and their careers We were asked to work with a high-performing manager within a large FMCG business who had been identified for fast-track development but was being held back by his tendency to upset both his colleagues and line manager.

To begin with, he was reluctant to engage and wanted a ‘quick fix’ training course to give him the answers but after he had attended the event and had yet another ‘bust up, he met with his coach again for a pivotal session that led to a new perspective and a commitment to action. Over an eight month period, coach and client met regularly to review progress and agree next steps.

Shortly after the end of the coaching relationship, a delighted client rang to say that he was being promoted to Divisional Director.
